Change page: go to current page

I want to build a single-page app. In the sidebar when I click a tab I set: change page and set a parameter=tab’s text.
Technically this is not a page change as I just want to change the parameter of the current page, but the whole page is loaded, e.g. the sidebar is loaded, too.
Can I simply change a page parameter without having to reload the whole page?

You should use your sidebar as a Linked Section. If there is the same linked section on the page you’re navigating to, it won’t reload
