We recently worked on an updated version of our logo (font and “favicon”).
The goal of this update is to modernize the logo in line with the release of WeWeb 3.0, while preserving the overall brand tone.
We developed a strong artistic direction that the whole team loves, but we couldn’t choose between our two favorite logo options, so we thought the community should make the final call!
As you will see, the two options we’re submitting to your vote share the same artistic direction, but differ in one key aspect: the first is inspired by angular shapes, while the second features a more rounded design.
So, with that context in mind and after reviewing both options, please vote for your favorite. Voting will close on Tuesday at 6 a.m. Eastern Time.
What about a “Try again” option?
These concepts shared by luka were 1000x better. I can obviously see the AI hint, but don’t let this AI obsession RUIN WeWeb entirely cmon.
This new logo doesn’t even match the type with the logomark weight
I like Luka’s one too! The 2 options look like someone accidentally cropped it from the bottom Between angular and round probably I would go for round. Everyone’s going for the angular nowadays
I agree with the rest! Not only Luka’s is better, but I strongly dislike both options. I do feel your need to include the “w” so my best recommendation is to go back to the drawing board.
I say this with a lot of love as a (somewhat) early WeWeb user and enthusiast - please don’t let AI ruin a great thing. I know you’ve put a lot into it and it seems like “the thing” but I truly wish you’d just let others follow that trend and keep doing what makes WeWeb great.
I love that WeWeb allows me to make all sorts of decisions about the way my app works and looks and feels. I don’t want to turn that over to AI. I like learning as I build, I like feeling like I can make my app even better if i just learn how to do this cool next thing. I like knowing how and why my app works. AI takes that away.
I liked the formula copilot but I find the current version of AI unusable and borderline dangerous so stay away from it.
I think the logo should feel like the best of WeWeb: accessible, clean, hopeful. The ones mocked-up here are doom-y, foreboding, and abstract.
The second one is basically an identical copy of the logo from https://music.ai/ with one extra line in the front
I like Luka’s better in general but it’s also too generic and looks identical to about 30 logos when I just searched it using Google image search, e.g. it’s the black and white version of https://www.piermontbank.com/ and basically the same as https://seed.photo/ and others
I empathize though. It’s almost impossible to have an original logo nowadays.
I also agree with the guy who said be careful on the AI bandwagon. AI currently seems best only for proof of concepts and/or editing. But real, enduring, quality front-ends will still be built with careful attention and system-wide thinking.
Thank you all for your participation and your feedback! Changing a logo is never easy as it is a subjective topic with tastes naturally varying from one person to another. That said, the vote gave us a clear winner which is good news!
We’ll move forward with the rounded W & updated font and begin rolling it out across our marketing materials. We’ll also finally get new swag printed, which we expect to distribute around June
It’s morning here and I wanted to drop this thought since it is one of the first computing thoughts I’m having.
For the past few days, I have enjoyed being greeted by the logomark. It’s very clean, and I like the ascending W, which conveys a positive or upward feeling.
