Has anyone had luck making UI changes to this particular modal?
This is the out of the box modal that is shown from the Rich Text Editor for mentions.
I’d say only custom CSS would help here. Overall the rich text’s customisability is very poor.
Custom CSS in the side panel? can you demo by changing background color and post a screenshot?
Custom CSS in a HTML block should do the trick. You just need to scope it via classes etc.
