Super annoying. Besides having a very limited number of icons (basically, I could not find a “settings/gear” icon in any of the packages) it is very hard to find the name/code of an icon.
E.g. I want the envelope icon. The name in the list appears to be “envelope”. I try to enter that text but nothing appears.
Is this a bug?

I think it should be fa fas-envelope instead
Try cog or cogwheel for settings icon, I was able to find it!

Re the value expected, @AJAW is correct, you need to first add the icon, note what it’s called (for example fas fa-cog then bind it as a string: "fas fa-cog"
A bit of a hassle I know. We’ll look to improve how we handle icons in the future.
