FIgma Plugin Issue: Not enough frames are using auto layout

Just created my first design in Figma and wanted to see how the Figma importing plugin worked. As soon as i start up the plugin, instantly the ‘generate design’ button is grayed out under any design section. Error says ‘Not enough frames are using auto layout

I can go under Styles and generate both Typo and Colors

Any suggestions?

You need to transform your frames to use auto-layout. These plugins can’t parse just any frames. I see you have many basic frames there.

Does this mean I need to change every frame to auto-layout?

I’m not sure how this plugin works, @luka might know, but yes, ideally most/all of your frames should be an autolayout - the more you have, the more precise it is.

Not sure about the exact percentage, but it’s in 60-80 percent range

Thank you. That pretty much breaks my entire design. Guess I’ll just have to build it in WeWeb from scratch.

Yeah, the issue with these plugins is that they work on Auto-layout, and not everyone is proficient enough in Figma to use it, so most often than not, people actually don’t realize/grasp the powers of it.

Learning auto layout is a fundamental part of learning Figma and for a good reason. If there wasn’t auto layout we wouldn’t be able to have the plugin anyways

From my experience experience it’s very easy to unbreak a design in Figma after adding auto layout

I’ll have to give it a try, but I guess that means I’ll have to go into every nested frame (div) and do auto-layout there too. I don’t know if there was an explanation somewhere that I may have missed to make sure all the layouts should be in auto for the plugin to work. If not, it should be made known imo.

Thank you for your help and feedback my friend.
