The Editor Load Time is simply unacceptable.
Introduction
Before going into the core of my complaint/criticism I would like to be clear that this is such a longstanding issue that I am quite unhappy that we are still discussing it in Summer of 2025.
Background
I moved to weweb 3 or so years ago, and I still love this product the most and cannot emphasize enough how much I want your team to win. But there are some aspects of the platform’s performance that’s just been left to go on and I think it is frankly not nice, the editor’s load time being one of them.
The Criticism
Of ALL mainsteam editors in this space Weweb’s editor is by FAR the slowest to load up. The time from “Open Project” to when the actual project first opens goes from “odd” to just “this is ridiculous” as your project grows bigger. And I say this as someone who used Bubble, Flutterflow, Wappler, Appgyver, Graphite GTC, Toddle, Adalo, Kodular & Thunkable before finding Weweb. This is not even cool.
This morning out of curiousity I opened my network tab and just checked how long the network requests took for each packet, the final “Load” request was still running after 5minutes (I stopped checking after that). It is such a killer of productivity and developer velocity. How can I be ready to work at 3am and I don’t start until 3:44 because that is when I FINALLY could get the editor to load a project. This is after closing, opening, closing, and so on. And many people have complained about this on the community forum.
Conclusion
I don’t stop sharing my praise on what an amazing product Weweb is, and I frankly tell anyone willing to hear in the dev community that THIS is how to build a product for visual development. But for real, this performance of the editor on first load, is just simply not acceptable. It is not.
