Pinned debug panel

Hi,

I am following this video and notice that the debug panel and the complete editor window are open and functional at the same time, however when I open my debug panel, it overlays the editor panel, so I cannot interact with the editor.

Is there a way to layout the panels differently or has this functionality been deprecated?

Thanks
Steve

Hey Steve :waving_hand:

Do you mean that you’d like to be able to see the Layout and Debug panels at the same time or more that it’s problematic that the Debug panel automatically closes when you click on the Canvas or right panel?

I wouldn’t say it’s a deprecated feature. It’s more that we’re making a lot of changes to the editor in an attempt to improve the user experience and make the building experience smoother. With that in mind, if you notice we make changes that are making the UX worse for you, please let us know!

I relay all the community feedback on my side but the best way to ensure the product team has all your inputs unfiltered is to create a feedback ticket here.

Hi Joyce,

A bit of both - it would be good if the debug panel could stay open when you click on the Canvas. So just like in the video you are able to see what is happening with variables, etc. without having to go into preview mode. Unless of course, that was the genesis of the change!

I agree with Steve here. It was really useful that the we can have the debug panel open while doing stuff in the canvas/edit mode. Right now, the debug panel only stays open in Preview mode. But in edit mode, it collapses when you click in the canvas.

It would be very helpful to have the functionality to keep it open so that we can monitor variable values while making changes in the canvas just like before the major UI change.
