Filter not working as intended

Hi all

for some reason i cant seem to get my filter working as intended on a collection. i just cant see where im going wrong. Ive got a search bar and a couple of drop downs. ive taken a screenshot as you can see below. any help would be really useful

Currently no value is being populated for the filter to filter by. The Current value should have a string in to when a value has been selected. Quickest way I know of fixing that is firing up preview and selecting a value so I can test it. Like in my screenshot below. I selected “Airey” from the Select so now my filter’s have something to test against.
