Hello, thank you to the WeWeb team for engaging with this.
I would like to echo the frustrations of those in this forum - in particular @javitote and @EvoSOK.
The first I heard that MCP access is now locked behind Pro seats was today when WeWeb bounced Claude and the error message told me to upgrade to Pro despite working with the MCP server throughout July and early August with no issues.
I paid for an annual subscription of the Essentials seat plan on July 31st with the understanding that I would have access to use the MCP server. And for that to have been taken away seems rather disengenuous. I appreciate the WeWeb product, team and support - but do feel let down that the changes seemingly were not communicated, and no provision has been made for those who have the Essentials plan to keep MCP server access at least until the end of their billing period (be it 1 month or 1 year), and then for user’s to make the decision whether to carry on and upgrade to the Pro plan or not.
And on that note, $20/m for Essential going to $50/m for the Pro plan just for using the MCP server feature seems extortionate.
I have been very satisfied with the WeWeb product, service and support thus far - and I have recommended to several people. Without MCP access at the price point of the Essentials plan, I unfortunately do not think I will be able to continue recommending WeWeb.
I’m on the same boat here. I used to have a pro membership but ultimately decided WeWeb didn’t really fit my needs, but using an Essentials plans and the MCP functionality seemed like a game changer - until I realized it was a trial only. The documentation I read about it made it seem like any paid plan would include it, including essential, but that clearly isn’t the case anymore. Is there anyway we can include this back with the essential tier?
Hey @Joyce — thanks for laying out the Aug 5th logic so clearly; that all makes sense and I’m not here to relitigate the Essential cutoff.
My situation is actually the flip side of this thread, and I think it’s a genuine bug rather than a pricing question: I upgraded to Pro ($60/mo) specifically because MCP is included — and I’m still locked out of MCP.
My billing page confirms the Pro charge, but the whole product still shows “Essential” badges and MCP calls are blocked. It’s been like this since Aug 20, and I haven’t gotten a response through chat or email yet. It looks like a billing↔entitlement desync — the payment side registered Pro, but the entitlement side still has me on Essential. Evidence from the MCP API:
getMe returns "hasMcpAccess": false on my workspace
Any project-scoped call returns [MCP TRIAL ENDED] … upgrade this workspace to a Pro or Partner plan — even though the workspace is already on Pro
So the gate is reading a stale entitlement flag, not my actual plan. A re-login/reconnect doesn’t clear it, which points to something server-side.
Could someone force an entitlement resync on my workspace? Happy to DM my workspace ID + invoice number. Really not trying to pile onto the pricing debate — I paid for the plan that includes MCP and just want the access I’m being billed for. Appreciate how present you all are in here
